Photograph use statement
Canal & River Trust may use photographs provided to it to support Notices and Stoppages information and related communications.
These photographs are intended to depict canals, bridges, or related locations, rather than to identify individuals. Individuals may appear incidentally when documenting the Trust’s work, activities, or events. Where identifiable individuals are present, the Trust will blur or otherwise anonymise them before publication when appropriate.
The Trust may use these photographs:
- On the Notices and Stoppages webpage
- For internal communications
- On social media, marketing, or other promotional materials
Images may be used in both digital and printed formats and may be edited or anonymised as needed.
This processing is based on the Trust’s legitimate interests in communicating information about its waterways and activities. The Trust ensures this use is proportionate and respects individuals’ privacy.
If you do not wish for a photograph in which you are identifiable to be used, you may contact Canal & River Trust Customer Services. The Trust will consider your request and, where appropriate, will cease using the image in future publications and online content. While reasonable efforts will be made to remove images from internal systems, it may not be possible to remove them from materials already published or from third-party websites.
No payment or reward will be provided for the use of photographs.
For more information on how personal data is processed, please see the Canal & River Trust Privacy Policy.
